Hotel Lenzerhorn

The Hotel Lenzerhorn, built in 1888 by Leonard Rischatsch, is located in the center of Lenzerheide. Caspar Bossi acquired the hotel in 1898 and it was run by the third generation of the Bossi family until it was sold. From 2002, the hotel was owned by the Dutchman Cornelis Kraaijeveld. In 2016, Luzi Bergamin's local company acquired the historic building.
1888 Construction of the Pension Lenzerhorn with 8 rooms (16 beds) and a small restaurant by Leonard Rischatsch. This makes the Lenzerhorn the second oldest hotel in the village.
1898 Acquisition of the house by Caspar Bossi. It was run and shaped by the Bossi family until 1997. The third generation decided to sell
1929 Conversion to a hotel with 30 rooms with central heating, running water and shared bathroom/toilet
1954 Guest rooms were completed with bathroom and toilet
1979 Construction of the terrace and another restaurant
1998 Under the leadership of Aldo Bossi, the hotel is taken over by Hotel Lenzerhorn AG
2000 Expansion of the current top floor into two apartments, passenger elevator was moved from the middle to the side of the current location, construction of the wellness area with steam bath, sauna and relaxation room
2002 Cornelis Kraaijeveld acquires the Hotel Lenzerhorn and integrates it into his Rosette AG, based in Lucerne. He is committed to giving the hotel a new, contemporary look. The hotel remains in Cornelis Kraaijeveld's ownership until 2016. The hotel owes him significant expansions such as the major new building project with 13 hotel rooms, spa and wellness area including indoor pool, seminar rooms, the legendary Heidstübli and much more
2005 Enlargement of the terrace to its current state, extension of the hotel with a new building with 13 rooms, outdoor and indoor pool and a seminar room
2011 Conversion of the seminar room in the basement into the third restaurant, the Heid-Stübli
2012 Renovation of the last 5 guest rooms in the old building, construction of the pizza oven in the Heidstübli restaurant and renovation of the terrace with passerelle plus extension of the outside staircase
2013 Investments in the renovation of the wellness entrance and the entire ventilation system as well as the complete renovation of the kitchen in the Heidstübli
2014 Renovation of elevator system in old building
2015 Complete renovation of the roofs of the Kuchikästli restaurant and the new building
2016 Local entrepreneur Luzi Bergamin acquires the historic Hotel Lenzerhorn in Lenzerheide
2018 Director Irene Gangwisch hands over the reins to host and director Elias Leu
A two-month conversion phase of the former private apartments on the 4th floor into 2 luxurious vacation apartments with stylish furnishings and every comfort will follow
2019 The big anniversary: 130 years of Hotel Lenzerhorn. We celebrate history
Renovation of 2 guest rooms in the new building, which serve as sample rooms
2020 In the new building, 5 superior double rooms will be completely redesigned. New staircase from the parking lot to the sun terrace
2021 Redesign of another 5 luxury double rooms in the new building. New superior family room

Purchase of the Hotel Spescha in November, directly opposite the Hotel Lenzerhorn. After 30 successful years, the Spescha family confidently hands over the keys to the AlpinTrend Group
The well-known traditional Hotel Spescha is the popular annexe of the Hotel Lenzerhorn and is run under the name Haus Spescha
The Hotel Lenzerhorn is thus gaining a further 12 hotel rooms, 4 apartments and 1 penthouse chalet as well as around 10 employees
2022 The terrace is redesigned with large planted cube-shaped pots
2023 New outdoor kitchen for the Heidstübli on the first floor terrace (only in summer), where guests can watch the pizzaiolo at work
Major renovation of the indoor pool with new lighting and new color concept
2024 Host Reto Feller takes over the management from Elias Leu
Milestones

1984
The village center of Lenzerheiden in 1984.
A colorful mix of stores, hotels and restaurants shaped the village center then as they do today.
Around 1960
Celebrity guest Margaret Thatcher
Margaret Thatcher, MP and first female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990, stayed at the Hotel Lenzerhorn around 1960. She spent her vacations at the Hotel Lenzerhorn again in 1981. When this picture was taken, an overnight stay with full board cost CHF 60.00.


Around 1947
Classic dining room with flair
The light-flooded dining room with seating for 60 was decorated with great care back then. Plants ensured a pleasant indoor climate and gave the room a warm atmosphere. Many weddings, family celebrations and banquets were held here. The dining room was located to the left of today's Giardino restaurant and lounge.
1920s
How the Heidsee was created
Lenzerheide with the impressive Lenzerhorn in the background, photographed from Sartons. The Eichhörnliwald forest at the beginning of Lenzerheide is clearly visible. Where the southern part of the Heidsee is located today was once forest. The northern part of the lake was formed during the Ice Age by water that collected between moraines and landslide masses.


Around 1920
Beginning of winter tourism
Then as now, winter brought many tourists from near and far to Lenzerheide. The Funibahn (rope-drawn toboggans) was built near Val Sporz as early as 1936, followed by the Tgantieni and Scalottas ski lifts in 1941/42. Winter tourism in Lenzerheide continued to take shape.
Around 1908
The spa resort is developing
From Maiensäss to health resort. Around 1914 there were already six hotels in Lenzerheide. On the left of the picture is the San Carlo church, built in 1884.


Around 1900
Of music and world literature
The Lenzerheide Music Society met on a feast day or Sunday after the church service in the Lenzerhorn. The first music society in the municipality of Vaz/Obervaz was founded in 1865. Since then, it has actively accompanied village life and provided entertainment at numerous events.

May estates of Chur families
The Hotel Lenzerhorn, then still run as a guesthouse, is the second hotel in Lenzerheide and is located at the right-hand entrance to the village from Chur. The Stätzerhorn is clearly visible in the background and the Maiensässe of the Margreth and Cantieni families can be seen in the foreground.
